Learning by doing: where theory gets a new dimension

This year we widened our cooperation with the Faculty of Economics in Subotica by running our first student internship, giving students a chance to get to know the profession of a test consultant and to gain practical knowledge they can use in their further education and professional development.

The program ran for two weeks and was held entirely online, so that students gained experience through workshops, hands-on assignments and work in a digital environment that matches the way business and collaboration actually work today.

The aim of the internship was to bring the profession of a test consultant closer to the participants and to show how understanding business processes, testing and automation contribute to the quality of business solutions. Through a combination of theory and practice, the students got to know the key aspects of a consultant's role: from requirements analysis and business process modeling to planning and carrying out test activities, as well as recognizing opportunities for automation.

The program covered the topics that make up an important part of a test consultant's everyday work:

• The role and responsibilities of a consultant
• Understanding and analyzing business processes
• The fundamentals of testing and test automation
• BPMN business process modeling
• Hands-on assignments in testing and automation

Particular emphasis was placed on applying what was learned through practical exercises, work in different tools, and solving concrete assignments based on real business scenarios.

What the students said

One of the most valuable measures of the program's success is certainly the impressions of the students themselves, who through the internship got their first direct look at the profession of a test consultant.

Participants particularly highlight the good organization, the clear structure and the quality of the materials, but also the chance to apply what they had learned at the faculty, for the first time, to concrete assignments and work in a real business setting.

For many, the internship was an opportunity to get to know tools and areas they had not come across before, to better understand what the work of a test consultant really involves, and to judge whether this is the career direction they want to develop in. They also single out the modern way of working, including the option of a remote engagement, as added value.
